Internet Access / Security / Monitoring

Jay Fuller has extensive knowledge in maintaining and providing networks.  From his early days of running a Bulletin Board System (BBS) (see more) , to the time he assisted with one of Cullman's earliest internet service providers (isp's), pcs-i.net, he always wanted to run his own internet service providership (isp) - - part of which required understanding the internet inside and out - which he eventually accomplished.  Understanding protocols such as tcp/ip and syslog monitoring on tcp 514 as well as using simple network monitoring protocol (snmp) on port 161 - (which isn't so simple, I might add...) - Advanced Computer is able to monitor and interpret internet usage by employees of several of it's clients.  Over the past several years, this technology, compatible with nearly any internet service provider, has enabled employers to monitor and track their employees' productivity as well as restrict access to unauthorized websites.

In 2003, Advanced Computer created a nationwide dialup service for the Cyber Domain Internet Cafe. That service later merged with acsdial - a dialup service created in partnership with CorrWireless when they discontinued their dialup service. If you have a need for inexpensive nationwide dialup internet access, visit us at http://www.acsdial.net.

In 2004, Raymond Pierce retired to Cullman from Memphis - and worked with other Cyber Domain personnel and Advanced Computer personnel to form Cyber Broadband - a high speed / broadband internet service provider whose goal is to make available high speed internet access to rural parts of Cullman County. Cyber Broadband is currently achieving that goal - and providing much-needed broadband internet access to underserved areas of Cullman.  In 2007, Cyber Broadband partnered with the City of Cullman to create Project Access (see more). For more information on Cyber Broadband, or to sign up, please visit http://www.cyberbroadband.net, or call (256) 734-1077.

In 2007, Jay Fuller worked with various individuals of Cyber Broadband to launch similar broadband services in other areas.  Cyber Broadband had discussed expansion earlier that year and felt it best to focus all of it's efforts on Cullman County. Therefore, Advanced Computer, recognizing needs and opportunity in surrounding counties, spearheaded and financed an effort to expand broadband service. Between January and September of 2008, service was installed using a 300 foot former AT&T microwave tower in Blount County. Shortly there after, we were able to  provide broadband access for the first time to underserved rural areas of Blount and Jefferson counties  We also have plans to add service in 2009 to Falkville Alabama. Visit www.advbroadband.net for more information or to order service.
